Our objectives
BluWave Community transport has been operating since June 2018, our aim is to overcome the isolation faced by people who cannot access regular means of transport. We want to enrich the lives of those using our services by tailoring our services to meet individual needs, improve their participation in the wider community and increase their independence. This in turn will improve their well-being and quality of life. Research shows that by keeping people active and engaged in activities and social interactions increases their lifespan. We aim to keep services offered as affordable as possible whilst maintaining high-quality standard of service.
Our activities
BluWave relies on a team of over 18 volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles to transport passengers. These volunteers are dedicated, empathetic, and community-minded, often forming meaningful relationships with the people they serve.
Volunteers are reimbursed for petrol and parking, and they receive training to ensure they can provide safe, respectful, and supportive service. Many volunteers say the experience is personally rewarding, helping them stay active and connected after retirement.
