Objectives

For over 158 years Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has been a champion for vulnerable dogs and cats, determined to create lasting change for animals in our society. Our core mission is to never turn away a dog or cat in need of our help. We are one of just a few animal rescue centres that run a non-selective intake policy. Irrespective of breed, temperament, age or health we will open our gates to those animals in need of care and shelter, and we will do all we can to either reunite them with their owners or find them loving new homes.

Activities

With our history, Battersea has gained a huge amount of expertise and we are now at the beginning of a new ambitious strategic period. We have a vision to use all the knowledge we have learned, and to extend this expertise both nationally and internationally. We have several large capital projects planned in our next strategic period, while also having a greater impact on animals we might never see through our educational projects, engaging communities, and public affairs work across the UK and beyond.

With this huge growth plan, there is one thing that will never change. From the moment we welcomed our first stray dog in 1860 we have been placing our animals at the centre of everything we do. More than three million animals later, we're still working hard to achieve our vision that every dog and cat should live in a home where they are treated with love, care and respect.
