Objectives

Africa Advocacy Foundation is a community-based charity established in 1996 that promotes better health, education and other life opportunities for disadvantaged people through practical support, advocacy, information, advice, guidance and training i.e HIV, Mental health, FGM, training.

 

Activities

AAF's mission is to provide practical, social, educational and community support to those that are living in poverty and illness particularly within BME communities in Greater London.

Out activities include;

·Advocacy services, campaigns and support on Female Genital Mutilation and domestic violence issues, HIV testing and treatment access

· Health promotion: on HIV, diabetes, cancer, mental health etc.  peer support groups for HIV positive people 

· Children/young people’s services: young carers, peer mentorship, education support, creative arts, youth club

· Family support services: positive parenting  and work with schools on health and education.

· Training: job access, CV writing, volunteering, ESOL skills, counselling, IT skills, career advice, self-management for long-term health conditions.

· Elderly people’s social inclusion activities, befriending scheme, cultural events, healthy living advice, information

AAF work with over 5000 direct beneficiaries annually and these include;
