Objectives

The 28th Glasgow (Giffnock) Scout Group provides around 180 young people aged from 6 - 18 with opportunities to develop skills for life, building their confidence and empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

We offer a safe and welcoming environment where young people can learn new skills, make friends, and participate in activities that are both fun and challenging.

Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:

  • enjoy what they are doing and have fun
  • take part in activities indoors and outdoors
  • learn by doing
  • share in spiritual reflection
  • take responsibility and make choices
  • undertake new and challenging activities
  • make and live by their Promise.

Activities

We provide a number of activities for young people aged 6 - 18 across our sections (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers):

  • Weekly meetings for all age groups that involve a variety of activities such as games, crafts, outdoor skills, and badge work.
  • Weekend and summer camps that provide opportunities for outdoor adventure, team-building, and personal development.
  • Badge work in a range of areas such as physical fitness, environmental conservation, and community service.
  • Community service projects, such as litter picking and fundraising, to help young people develop a sense of social responsibility and civic-mindedness.
