The Gary Woodward Dyskeratosis Congenita Trust
Website Design maintenance for Charity:
Our charity supports Dyskeratosis Congenita (a rare bone marrow failure syndrome which is a genetic condition, affecting children and adults). By developing and maintaining our website you can help us share vital information, reach our community and keep supporters updated.
What will you be doing?
We are a small charity with a core group of six voluntary Trustees that are supplemented by volunteers for fundraising events. We have Trustee meetings approximately three times a year. We work collaboratively with other charity groups, stakeholders and families to raise the profile and provide education and support.
We are seeking a talented website designer who can develop and maintain our website, using their expertise to support our charity aims. The Trust hopes to bridge the gap and offer support, education and understanding for anyone involved in this complex condition. Our website plays a vital role in sharing our work, reaching the community, and keeping supporters informed.
We’re looking for a committed volunteer who can help us keep our website information fresh, accurate, and engaging. We need a volunteer with experience in website maintenance (we currently use Wix) who can maintain and update our existing website making small changes or improvements as needed; Upload new content such as news, events, stories, or resources; Help us identify opportunities for new content that supports our mission; Enable us to enhance our presence where we can visually communicate our projects and events; Improve our engagement and communications; Launch fundraising and educational/ support initiatives; Provide light technical guidance when something needs fixing or improving; Suggest innovative ideas and guide us with these suggestions. Time Commitment: Approximately 1–2 hours per month, with flexibility (most updates are small and can be done at your convenience). This voluntary role would appeal to someone who has website management skills and is organised and comfortable working independently. We would like to work with someone who wants to help our small charity communicate clear and effective information, who can offer ideas for improving how we present our work online. We hope your support will help us reach more people, share our message more effectively, and ensure our online presence reflects the important work we do. This is a small-time commitment with a big impact.
What are we looking for?

- Accessibility awareness- ensuring content is readable and usable for all visitors to website.
- Graphic design tools to enhance website and understanding what content performs well.
- Experience with charities or nonprofits helpful so audience and tone are understood.
- Ability to suggest improvements or better ways to present information.
- Being able to signpost to new initiatives/ ways of working and future innovative ideas.
What difference will you make?
Our website is often the first place people learn about our charity. Your skills and input contributing to our website will help individuals and families living with Dyskeratosis Congenita, as well as educating healthcare professionals and supporting our ability to attract funding and build long-term relationships with key stakeholders . By maintaining and improving the website, you will help us tell our story clearly, share vital resources, and connect with those who need our support. Your contribution will amplify our voice, extend our reach, and play a meaningful part in helping us achieve our vision for a stronger, more supported community. This role will support our work and is vital to raising the profile of the charity. Thank you for taking the time to read our profile, we appreciate your consideration and interest.
Before you apply
We do not intend to undertake interviews, we are a small charity with Trustees working in voluntary roles. An informal chat via teams to discuss requirements and meet would be nice so that we can have a chat about suitability for both parties and to feel we know the website developer who would be a vital part of our team. In the future perhaps if comfortable the website developer may wish to attend a Trustee meeting to meet and suggest any ideas, etc, if they feel this is appropriate. Our meetings are online too.
