Volunteer Photographer
Help us capture our club, people, and events through photography. Your photos will help us show who we are, celebrate our members, and improve our online visibility.
What will you be doing?
Qwan Ki Do is looking for a volunteer photographer to help us capture our club, classes, community activities, and grading exam events. We want high-quality photos that show the energy, discipline, and community spirit of our work. These images will be used on our website, social media, volunteer posts, and promotional materials.
The volunteer will photograph key moments during classes, events, and special occasions, including grading exams, demonstrations, awards, and general club atmosphere. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys photography and wants to support a community club in a practical and creative way.
The role is flexible and could suit someone who can help at one event, or someone who would like to support us more regularly. Experience is helpful, but enthusiasm, reliability, and a good eye for storytelling are the most important qualities.
What are we looking for?
Qwan Ki Do is looking for a volunteer photographer with experience in event, sports, or action photography. The ideal person will have a good eye for timing, composition, and storytelling, and be able to work confidently in a busy, active environment.
A key part of this role is understanding movement and being able to capture martial arts techniques clearly while they are in motion. This includes noticing the right moment for kicks, strikes, stances, demonstrations, grading moments, and the energy of live classes or events. Because the action is fast and often unpredictable, the photographer should be comfortable anticipating key moments and reacting quickly.
It would be helpful if the volunteer has some experience photographing people, sports, or live events, and can work around different lighting conditions. Basic editing skills would also be useful, along with the ability to select strong images for use online and in promotional materials.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, creative, and able to work independently. A friendly and respectful manner is important too, as the volunteer may be working around children, families, instructors, and club members during classes and events.
The most important qualities are not just technical skill, but also patience, awareness, and an interest in showing the spirit of the club in a positive and professional way. Someone who can capture both the action and the atmosphere of our club will help us present our work much more effectively to the community.
What difference will you make?
This role will help Qwan Ki Do show the real spirit of our club in a clear and professional way. Strong photography will capture the energy, discipline, and community atmosphere that make our club special, helping people see the value of what we do beyond the mats.
By giving us high-quality images, the volunteer will help improve how we present ourselves online and in the community. These photos can be used on our website, social media, volunteer posts, and promotional materials, helping us tell our story more effectively and reach a wider audience. This is especially important for attracting new members, building trust with families, and showing funders and supporters the impact of our work.
The role will also help us celebrate the progress and achievements of our students, particularly during grading exams, special events, and demonstrations. Capturing those moments helps us recognise the hard work of our members and share their success with the wider community.
Most importantly, this role will help us strengthen our identity as a welcoming, active, and community-focused organisation. It will help us communicate that Qwan Ki Do is not only a martial arts club, but a place where people build confidence, develop skills, and feel part of something positive.
In the longer term, better photography will support our growth by making our club more visible, more professional, and more appealing to potential members, volunteers, and supporters. It will help us present ourselves in the best possible light and show the difference we make every day.
