We are looking to expand our board by recruiting two trustees from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Our main focus will be on promoting racial equity, advocating for marginalised groups, and influencing local policies in key areas such as education, health, housing, and justice.

What will you be doing?

SGREN is entering an exciting and important phase of growth, and as a Trustee, you will play a vital role in helping shape the future direction of the organisation and strengthening our impact across South Gloucestershire.

Over the coming years, we expect to make important strategic decisions around sustainability, governance, partnerships, and the expansion of our community programmes and engagement work. As SGREN continues to grow its influence in promoting racial equity, well-being, inclusion, and community representation, our Board will play a key role in guiding that development responsibly and collaboratively.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people (especially from the Asian community) who bring experience in charity governance, organisational development, finance, HR, legal compliance, community leadership, or strategic planning. Experience supporting organisations through periods of growth, transformation, or systems development would be especially valuable as we strengthen our structures and prepare for the next stage of SGREN’s journey.

Our Trustees work closely with the Chair, volunteers, and wider committee in a supportive, welcoming, and community-focused environment. We value lived experience alongside professional expertise, and we encourage Trustees to contribute their ideas, networks, and passions to help shape projects, partnerships, communications, and outreach activities that create meaningful change for ethnically diverse communities.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for Trustees who are passionate about race equality, inclusion, and community empowerment, and who can contribute both strategically and collaboratively to the organisation’s development.

Our ideal Trustees will bring a combination of personal qualities, professional skills, and lived experience that can help strengthen SGREN’s governance, sustainability, and community impact. We value people who are committed to social justice, able to think strategically, and willing to contribute actively to Board discussions and decision-making.

What difference will you make?

As a Trustee at SGREN, your skills and experience can help strengthen the organisation as we continue developing our governance, systems, partnerships, and community impact. As SGREN enters an important phase of strategic growth, Trustees will play a key role in shaping the organisation’s future direction and ensuring that our work continues to reflect the needs and voices of ethnically diverse communities across South Gloucestershire.

This year, we hope to strengthen our organisational sustainability further, expand our outreach and engagement, and continue developing our long-term strategic vision and priorities. Trustees will be closely involved in these discussions and will help guide decisions around governance, inclusion, partnerships, and future development.

Whether your expertise is in governance, finance, communications, community leadership, lived experience advocacy, or organisational development, your contribution can help SGREN build stronger systems, increase community representation, and deepen our impact on race equality, wellbeing, and inclusion.
