Trustees for Creative Charity
Gladrags Community Costume Resource are looking to recruit up to three additional Trustees. You would be joining a small team of part-time staff and 40 trained volunteers, on whom we depend to maintain our collection of 8000 pre-loved costumes and artefacts.
What will you be doing?
As a Gladrags trustee, you’ll help guide the charity’s direction and ensure we stay true to our values of creativity, circularity and community connection. Trustees provide steady oversight, thoughtful challenge and supportive leadership to help us grow sustainably.
Our trustees:
- Attend quarterly board meetings and occasional additional discussions when needed
- Support strategic planning, helping us make good decisions about our future direction
- Oversee good governance, ensuring we meet our legal and charitable responsibilities
- Offer guidance in their areas of experience, whether that’s fundraising, business development, policy, creative industries or community work
- Champion our mission, acting as an ambassador for Gladrags in the community
- Provide support to the staff team, offering insight, encouragement and constructive feedback
- Help ensure financial stability, reviewing budgets and supporting income‑generation thinking
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive board culture, where lived experience and diverse perspectives are valued
What are we looking for?
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with knowledge or experience in:
-
income generation, fundraising or marketing
-
property or business development
-
policy and governance
-
the arts and creative industries
-
the voluntary and community sector
We also know that life experience and community understanding offer valuable expertise. We warmly welcome people from a wide range of backgrounds who feel connected to our mission and believe they could contribute to the future of Gladrags.
What difference will you make?
As we grow, we’re looking to welcome new trustees who share our commitment to equal arts access, circularity and community connection. Trustees play an important role in helping us stay rooted in our values while supporting the charity's sustainable growth and future success. Your impact as a trustee will enable us to develop key areas, share expertise, and help us reflect and move forward.
We also recognise the value of lived experience alongside professional skills. You may bring community knowledge, creative thinking, practical experience, or simply a genuine belief in what Gladrags stands for.
Previous trustee experience is not essential. We are keen to build a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities we work with.
Time Commitment
-
Approximately 6 board meetings per year
