Trustee: income generation & fundraising
Dacorum Heritage is seeking an inspiring new Trustee to help guide the next chapter of this charitable museum.
Are you strategic, commercially aware and relationship-focused and able to help strengthen income generation and fundraising?
What will you be doing?
Planning the future now is essential - there are equally as many challenges as opportunities as we move into a period of great change.
As the Trustee with special responsibilities for income generation and fundraising, you will play a key role in helping the Board diversify income, identify funding opportunities and build relationships that support long-term sustainability. You will bring insight, challenge and practical guidance to help Dacorum Heritage grow earned income, donations, grants, sponsorship and other appropriate sources of support.
This is an opportunity to use your fundraising, business development, marketing or partnership experience to make a practical and lasting contribution to a small charity with an important community purpose. Working collaboratively with the Chair, Museum Manager and fellow Trustees, you will help ensure Dacorum Heritage has the financial resilience to care for its collections, engage communities and deliver its charitable objects for current and future beneficiaries.
What are we looking for?
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in fundraising, income generation, business development, marketing, sponsorship, partnerships, grant funding, philanthropy or charity leadership;
- A strategic and commercially aware approach, with the ability to spot opportunities and assess their suitability for a small heritage charity;
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, including confidence engaging funders, partners, donors and community supporters;
- An understanding of fundraising good practice, supporter stewardship, grant-making processes or charity income generation, or a willingness to develop this knowledge;
- The ability to provide constructive Board-level challenge while working collaboratively with Trustees, staff and volunteers;
- A genuine commitment to local heritage, community benefit and the long-term sustainability of Dacorum Heritage; and
- The time, reliability and enthusiasm to support fundraising activity between meetings and act as a visible advocate for the Trust.
What difference will you make?
Help guide the next chapter of a charitable museum dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the stories of Dacorum’s people, places and communities.
This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills, judgement and enthusiasm to make a lasting difference. As a Trustee, you will work collaboratively with the Museum Manager and fellow Board members to provide strategic leadership, strengthen our sustainability and ensure the Trust continues to deliver public benefit for current and future generations.
