Help shape the future of Bournemouth Foodbank
Every day, people across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole face hard choices between eating and paying the bills. Bournemouth Foodbank exists to ensure that nobody has to face hunger alone.
What will you be doing?
Trustees hold ultimate legal responsibility for the charity’s strategic direction, financial health, and compliance. You will contribute to board meetings, act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, and advocate for the food bank within the BCP community.
As our work grows in scale and complexity, we are recruiting new Trustees to strengthen our Board. We are specifically looking for someone with professional finance experience who can contribute at Board level. This person will help oversee the financial health, budgeting, and long-term resilience of the organisation
What are we looking for?
We are looking for people with strong professional expertise, sound judgement and a commitment to our purpose. A full induction and ongoing support will be provided.
This is an opportunity to apply the expertise you've built in your career to one of the most important challenges facing our local community.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are particularly keen to increase the diversity of experience and perspectives on our Board.
- Professional finance experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, or accounting.
- Strategic and financial oversight and able to contribute to long-term planning and organisational sustainability.
- Sound judgement and integrity.
- Commitment to the charity's purpose.
- Ability to contribute effectively at Board level.
What difference will you make?
As part of the Trussell network, we provide emergency food and practical support to local people experiencing financial hardship, while working to tackle the underlying causes of poverty in our community. Our Impact Last Year • 101,754 meals provided to local people in crisis. • 25,281 meals dedicated specifically to children. • 3,104 households supported across the BCP region
While Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) is often seen as an affluent coastal area, many local neighbourhoods experience significant deprivation. Demand for our services continues to grow due to the rising cost of living and increasingly complex challenges.
Emergency food is just the beginning. We partner with over 223 referral agencies to provide financial inclusion support, benefits advice, and debt guidance. Sometimes the most valuable support we can offer is simply a listening ear, human connection and the reassurance that someone cares. This is an opportunity to use your professional expertise where it can have genuine impact. As a Trustee you will:
• Help shape one of Bournemouth's most important local charities
• Work alongside an experienced and committed Board
• Use your professional skills for social good
• Develop your governance and charity leadership experience
• Make a lasting difference to thousands of local people facing hardship
