Treasurer/Finance lead Trustee
The Gas Safe Charity is looking for a Finance Lead Director to join the Board to provide oversight of the charity's finances.
What will you be doing?
The Gas Safe Charity is seeking a Trustee who will lead on finance and act as the Treasurer. The Treasurer will work closely with the Chair, Trustees and Company Secretary to oversee the financial management of the Charity, advise on strategic matters and any issues that arise.
The Treasurer will:
- oversee the Charity's financial procedures, reporting to the Board on a regular basis
- Oversee the Charity's financial risk management and report on financial health to the Board
- Keep the reserves policy under review to ensure it is appropriate and advise on changes as required
- Liaise with the auditors during the audit process and ensure that the annual accounts are prepared and approved on time
The Gas Safe Charity has a turnover of around £500k and was established in 2009 as a result of the award of the Concession Agreement for gas registration services to Capita plc, establishing the Gas Safe Register.
The Charity works with key partners to provide direct assistance to vulnerable people at times of need and works with trusted intermediaries in the public ad voluntary sectors to promote a greater understanding of the signs and symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of charity financial procedures and the reporting requirements of the Charity Commission, SORP and Companies House. However, a desire to support a small established organisation and a willingness to learn and adapt their skills to our needs is the most important quality we are seeking.
What difference will you make?
As Trustees, you will support the Board in making sound decisions and develop new initiatives. The charity's work helps vulnerable people on gas safety problems and organises information and training programmes on Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
