Treasurer – Sea Cadets Harlow
Do you have administrative or money management experience?
Would you like a meaningful role, launching young people for life?
Enhance your skills, boost self-esteem and meet new people! Be our next Treasurer!
What will you be doing?
Sea Cadets Harlow is its own charity, with a committed and supportive Unit Management Team (Trustee team) from a range of backgrounds. The team are supported by national charity Marine Society and Sea Cadets.
The Treasurer works with the other Trustees and our Fundraising Team, to manage an effective and successful Sea Cadet unit – providing a safe, maintained and serviced space for young people and volunteers.
We fully support flexible volunteering and this role can be carried out remotely to suit your schedule.
You’ll be great in this role if you’re proactive, enjoy getting things done, and want to shape a role that plays a significant part in leading our Charity to future success.
We provide free training courses to support you in this role, develop new skills and boost your CV.
Key Points:
- Being a Charity Trustee.
- Keeping up to date and accurate records of income and expenditure.
- Ensuring regular reports are available to the Trustees.
- Ensuring that annual returns are completed and checked by the appropriate person, and Charity regulator.
- Chair a regular UMT meeting - usually 1 hour, monthly or bi-monthly.
- These tasks can also be divided between volunteers, so why not come along with a friend and share the experience?
What are we looking for?
Previous money management experience would help, although having the right attitude and a passion for improving the lives of young people are the most important things! If you think the person specification below sounds like you, then please get in touch:
- You are reliable, honest and trustworthy.
- You are a good communicator.
- You enjoy working as part of a team.
- Three years of treasurer / finance / money management experience.
What difference will you make?
The Treasurer is a key role in our organisation. Your skills and commitment will:
- Help the Board of Trustees to plan for the long-term future success of our Charity.
- Set a plan for our charity’s budget and fundraising goals.
- Support the Trustees to reach fundraising goals and keep the charity’s records organised and up-to-date.
As an independent charity, recruiting skilled and passionate volunteers to join our team is vital to our mission of inspiring young people to achieve their potential through challenge and nautical adventure, guided by the customs and traditions of today’s Royal Navy.
Your experience will be invaluable to us as we grow our charity to offer even more young people the Sea Cadets Experience!
We have nearly 40 cadets who come from all over the area and from all walks of life. You would help make a positive difference to teenagers who often struggle in today’s world and their communities. Without support from volunteers like you, our charity cannot provide the adventure, community, and opportunities that young people experience through the Sea Cadets.
