Babylon Project is looking for an experienced and dedicated digital communications volunteer to help us spread the word about our work with young people from refugee, asylum seeking and migrant backgrounds.

Join Our Team as a Digital Communications Volunteer!

Babylon Project is looking for a creative, tech-savvy volunteer to help develop our digital presence! We are looking for someone with skills and experience in all things digital to offer strategic and operational support in engaging, informing and motivating existing and potential supporters.  

The Digital Communications Volunteer will work within a larger communications team, and support and be supported by the Core Team of Babylon Project volunteers and staff. The role will require a commitment of approximately 2-3 hours a week.

Key skills:

  •  Social Media Management
  • Content Creation (Photo, Video, Blog)
  • Copywriting
  • Canva / designing

The position would be 100% remote and successful candidates will receive the onboarding and ongoing support needed to carry out their role effectively.

About Babylon Project

Babylon Project is a Community Interest Company which runs creative activities by and for young people from refugee, asylum seeking and migrant backgrounds. We provide a safe and welcoming environment in which young people can take part in creative activities such as drama, storytelling, film-making and art. 

Our activities aim to address the disadvantage and exclusion experienced by refugees and asylum seekers living in the UK, boosting young people’s confidence and providing them with the necessary tools to express themselves. 

What are we looking for?

Skills

  • Strong written communication skills
  • Digital content design skills (graphic, photo, video/reel)

Experience

  • Experience of developing content for social media (essential)
  • Experience coordinating social media schedules (essential)
  • Experience running digital fundraisers (desirable)

Qualities

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively 
  • Strong commitment to supporting people from refugee, asylum seeking and migrant backgrounds.

This is an exciting time for Babylon Project, as we're growing quickly as an organisation. Having built a successful London hub and run over 50 workshops since 2022, we are branching out to open a new hub in Stoke on Trent. We've also worked with organisations such as the Red Cross, Safe Passage and the Refugee Council to engage with over 1500 participants in our first two years. 

To sustain our growth, we need to develop and maintain our audiences. With your support, we can:

  • Recruit more young people to our creative, community-building activities
  • Engage, educate and motivate our existing participants and supporters
  • Reach a wider audience to generate vital support for our work
