Seeking trustees for LGBT+ youth organisation
The Proud Trust, the LGBT+ Youth Organisation for Greater Manchester (with North West and national projects) is seeking a trustee to join our wonderful Trustee Team. We are especially looking for BAME and trans people.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a capable, dynamic, caring person with relevant professional experience to come on board as a volunteer on our trustee board. We meet about 6 times a year for around 3 hours, plus some ad hoc meetings and flexible projects throughout the year. The role will involve around 6 hours per month including desk-based reading time.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is caring, capable and dedicated to helping young LGBT+ people, and has relevant professional experience. We are especially interested in recruiting trustees who have experience in campaigning and policy change, social enterprise/business acumen, fundraising, marketing and commissioning. We would love to hear from you if you have good existing connections amongst influential people in civic life or the business world and if you are good at developing national and international relationships.
We are keen to ensure that the makeup of our board reflects the diversity of the LGBT+ communities we serve; we have identified a need to increase our BAME and trans/non-binary representation on our Board of Trustees. We recognise that due to racism and transphobia you may not have had the opportunity to develop some of the skills listed above and will support the right trustee candidate through training to fill any skill gaps.
What difference will you make?
Our organisation has grown significantly in the past few years from a small charity to one with national reach and a £2.4M capital build project. We are looking for trustees who can help us at this new scale of work, bringing experience from other fields, and who enjoy a challenge.
You can read our 2018-2019 Annual Report here.
Your trustee role with us will help our organisation grow and adapt, helping us to provide more LGBT+ young people and those who work with LGBT+ young people with sorely needed youth groups, one to one support, and training.
