Safeguarding Lead Trustee
Sibling Support is growing and we're looking for somebody with strong safeguarding experience, to join our board of trustees! You will be joining a proactive and committed trustee board who are committed to supporting our charities growth, whilst also leading our approach to safeguarding.
What will you be doing?
This is a really exciting time to join Sibling Support as a trustee. Already a well established national charity, the launch of our 5 year vision in Autumn 2025, focused our strategy on developing and growing our reach across the UK. This year is crucial in the first year of that strategy is every part of our work is being reviewed with the aim of ensuring that we provide the most responsive and accessible support possible to Bereaved Siblings.
You'll be joining our proactive and supportive trustee board in general trustee duties. This will include attending quarterly trustee meetings (two in person and two virtual) and strategically leading the charity to ensure we successfully achieve our mission. As we continue to grow and raise the profile of our work, specific areas of focus across our board including fundraising and marketing. You will be instrumental in contributing to these topics through general conversation and the option of joining sub committees.
As part of our growth, you will also take responsibility of the charities Safeguarding Lead. This will involve working alongside trustees and our Growth Director to ensure that our policies are robust and fit for purpose. You will be involved in safeguarding related processes and ensuring we're up to date with training, compliance and processes. Although Safeguarding experience is essential for this role, it helps if you have an ability to apply this to a national charity.
What are we looking for?
Essential Experience:
- Professional safeguarding experience working with children and adults. (e.g., social care, education, health, policing, youth work, charity sector).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice, relating to working with children and adults.
- Ability to analyse risk, ask challenging questions, and support proportionate decision‑making.
- Commitment to our mission, values, and the highest standards of governance.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with the rest of the Sibling Support team.
- Able to commit to attending 4 trustee meetings per year, including two ‘in person’ meetings, in London.
- Ability to attend charity events as and when required.
- Able to commit to supporting, reviewing and contributing to the development of our safeguarding procedures, as and when required, in between trustee meetings.

As our Safeguarding Lead, you will be enhancing our growth by making sure that our robust approach to Safeguarding is fit for purpose, up to date and proactive. You may have lived experience (not essential) of being a Bereaved Sibling and your personal experience will help to inform our direction and purpose.
