Marketing Support
Help Young Creative Bucks reach more young people by creating and sharing marketing content across social media, newsletters and our website, making creative opportunities clearer and more accessible across Buckinghamshire.
What will you be doing?
Young Creative Bucks (YCB) is a small, youth-focused charity working across Buckinghamshire to improve access to creative and cultural opportunities for children and young people. We act as a connector between education, culture and the creative industries, supporting stronger relationships across the sector and helping ensure opportunities are more visible, accessible and inclusive.
As a very small organisation, our marketing and communications are essential to how we stay visible, build partnerships, and share opportunities with schools, cultural organisations and young people. We currently operate with one core staff member and limited pro bono marketing support.
We are now looking to build a volunteer team to help us deliver practical, day-to-day marketing activity that supports this wider purpose. The focus of this role is to help us communicate clearly and consistently across our main channels — particularly social media, newsletters and our website.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing short-form marketing copy for social media posts, newsletters and web updates, based on provided briefs, key messages or content ideas
- Supporting the scheduling and publishing of social media content
- Assisting with the creation and formatting of email newsletters
- Uploading and updating content on the website, including news, events and opportunities
- Helping maintain and organise mailing lists and basic contact data
- Reworking existing content into clearer, more accessible formats for different audiences
- Supporting communications around events, networks and partner activity
- Ensuring content is consistent with agreed messaging and tone of voice
This is not a strategic marketing role — instead, it is focused on practical, structured support that helps us maintain consistent communication and improve how opportunities are shared with educators, cultural organisations and young people.
All work will be clearly briefed, with templates, examples and messaging guidance provided. Volunteers will work closely with the Director of YCB, who will provide direction, feedback and approval for all content before it is published.
Our priority is to make this a well-supported and manageable volunteering opportunity. Tasks will be planned in advance wherever possible, and designed to fit around availability, typically 1–4 hours per week or month.
This role plays an important part in helping YCB maintain a consistent and accessible presence across its channels, ensuring that opportunities across Buckinghamshire’s creative and cultural sector are clearly communicated and easier to find for the people who need them most.
What are we looking for?
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Experience in marketing, communications or content creation
- Strong written communication skills and confidence writing short-form copy
- The ability to write clearly and adapt tone for different audiences
- An interest in education, young people, or the creative and cultural sector (desirable, not essential)
- An ability to work independently within clear guidance and structure
What difference will you make?
This role will have a direct and practical impact on how Young Creative Bucks (YCB) communicates with the people and organisations who help shape access to creative and cultural opportunities for children and young people across Buckinghamshire.
As a small organisation working across education, culture and the creative industries, our ability to stay visible, consistent and clear in our communications is essential. Much of our work depends on strong relationships with schools, cultural partners and sector organisations, as well as ensuring that information reaches young people and the adults who influence their access to opportunities. With limited capacity, our marketing and communications function is critical to maintaining these connections and supporting equitable access.
By supporting our marketing activity, volunteers will help us communicate more consistently across our key channels, including social media, newsletters and our website. This improves how opportunities, events and updates are shared with educators, young people, parents/guardians and partners.
The impact of this role includes:
- Helping schools and educators stay informed about creative and cultural opportunities available to their students
- Improving the clarity and accessibility of information so opportunities are easier for young people and families to understand and engage with
- Supporting parents and carers as key influencers, ensuring they can access clear information to support participation
- Strengthening consistent communication across audiences and partners
- Supporting the visibility of youth voice
- Enabling better use of existing content through adaptation and reuse
- Increasing the reach and effectiveness of engagement across the cultural education ecosystem
In practical terms, volunteers will help ensure important information does not go unseen due to capacity constraints. Their contribution will allow us to keep communications structured rather than reactive, and maintain a steady flow of accessible updates.
This role also supports the longer-term sustainability of YCB by strengthening communications infrastructure and consistent messaging, helping build stronger relationships with partners and funders, and ensuring our work is clearly connected to outcomes for young people.
Importantly, this role supports equity of access. Clear, timely communication plays a key role in whether young people are able to engage with creative opportunities. Volunteers will help reduce barriers for those less likely to participate due to social, economic or systemic factors.
Overall, this role helps ensure that YCB can continue to connect people, share opportunities, and strengthen the systems that support young people’s creative journeys across Buckinghamshire.

Before you apply
We welcome applications from people with experience in marketing, communications, content creation or digital engagement, particularly those who are interested in education, young people, or the creative and cultural sector. We are more interested in clear communication skills, reliability and a collaborative approach than in formal qualifications.
We ask applicants to provide a CV and, where possible, examples of previous work such as writing, social media content, newsletters or portfolios. A short message outlining your interest in the role and what you would hope to bring to it is also helpful.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal online conversation with the Director of Young Creative Bucks. This will be a relaxed discussion about your experience, interests, and availability, as well as an opportunity for you to ask questions about the role and the organisation.
We aim to make the process as accessible and flexible as possible. Conversations will be arranged within school hours where possible, and scheduled in advance to suit availability.
We hope to begin initial conversations soon after applications are received, and will respond to all applicants as quickly as we can.
