Instagram Account Holder
Help us keep ESC's Instagram presence active, connected, and reaching the people who need us most. As our Instagram Account Holder, you'll manage the day-to-day running of our account, share content to Stories, and help us make the most of our growing community of over 5,000 followers.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a reliable and organised volunteer to take ownership of the day-to-day running of Endometriosis South Coast's Instagram account, ensuring it remains active, consistent, and connected to our community.
Endometriosis South Coast is an inclusive charity supporting people navigating the diagnosis journey or living with endometriosis. Instagram is our strongest platform, with over 3,000 followers, and plays a key role in how people discover us, engage with our work, and access support.
This role is focused on consistency, scheduling, and community engagement, rather than content creation.
You will manage the posting of approved content using a monthly content calendar, ensuring posts go out on time and the account remains active. Between main posts, you will keep the account visible by reposting events, campaigns, and previous content to Stories, maintaining a consistent presence in our followers' feeds.
A key priority in this role is leading the transition of our account from a creator profile to a business profile, improving our access to analytics, contact features, and long-term growth tools.
You will also manage day-to-day engagement, monitoring and responding to direct messages and comments, handling straightforward enquiries, and flagging more complex or sensitive messages to the Marketing Manager.
In addition, you will track basic performance metrics and provide a short monthly summary, helping us understand what is working and where we can improve.
You will work as part of a small, supportive volunteer team, following a clear content approval process. This role requires around 2 to 3 hours per week, worked flexibly.
What are we looking for?
Experience in Social media marketing.
Your work will play a key role in maintaining and strengthening one of Endometriosis South Coast’s most important channels for connection and visibility.
Instagram is where a large part of our community already exists. It is often the first place people encounter ESC, learn about our support groups, and begin to feel less alone. By ensuring the account remains active and well-managed, you will help more people discover us and access support at the moment they need it.
Consistency is critical. When our Instagram is active, we remain visible in people’s feeds, our events reach more people, and our community stays engaged. When it isn’t, we quickly lose that visibility. Your role ensures that doesn’t happen, creating a steady and reliable presence that people can depend on.
You will also help us take a meaningful step forward by transitioning our account to a business profile. This will give us access to better insights, improved contact options, and stronger tools for growth, strengthening how we operate as a charity.
Your engagement with messages and comments will also make a direct difference to individuals. A timely, thoughtful response can help someone feel heard, supported, and more confident in reaching out or attending a support group.
Internally, your support will free up capacity within our small volunteer team, allowing us to focus on delivering services, partnerships, and advocacy work.
Overall, your contribution will help ensure ESC remains visible, responsive, and connected—supporting more people to find understanding, community, and support.
What difference will you make?
Instagram is where a significant part of our community lives. With over 3,000 followers, it is our most established social platform and one of the primary ways people first discover ESC, connect with our work, and find their way to our support meetings and campaigns.
Keeping the account consistently active is not a small thing for a charity of our size. When our Instagram goes quiet, our visibility drops, our community feels the absence, and people who might have found us simply don't. Our Instagram Account Holder ensures that never happens.
Beyond keeping the account ticking over, this volunteer will help us take a meaningful step forward by transitioning our account to a business profile, giving us access to better insights, clearer contact options for people seeking support, and a stronger foundation for future growth.
The impact of this role is quiet but cumulative. Every Story shared keeps ESC in someone's feed. Every comment replied to reminds a follower that there is a real, caring team behind this account. Every event reposted might be the nudge that brings someone to their first support meeting. For people living with a condition that is so often invisible, that consistency of presence genuinely matters.
For a small, entirely volunteer-run charity, having someone dedicated to this role means our founders and other volunteers can focus on delivering services rather than worrying about whether the account has been updated.
We are looking for someone who is organised, dependable, and confident using Instagram. The most important requirement is at least three years' experience using the platform regularly, with a strong understanding of key features including Stories, scheduling, insights, and account settings. Experience managing an account for a charity, organisation, or community group would be beneficial, though not essential.
You should be comfortable following a structured process, including working from a content calendar and within a content approval system. Reliability is key, as this role is about maintaining consistency rather than creating new content.
You will be interacting with people who may be navigating pain, delayed diagnosis, or difficult healthcare experiences, so the ability to respond with sensitivity, warmth, and inclusive, trauma-informed language is very important.
