UK SVP Board Member

Are you passionate about social impact and innovative education solutions? Our Floating Campus project needs an Impact Director to help scale our mission. This role combines strategy, governance, and entrepreneurship to make a real-world difference.

What will you be doing?

Immediate Appointment
Governance role for people with strong judgement, values-driven leadership, and the ability to support the organisation at an early but pivotal stage of growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide governance expertise and strengthen funding/loan applications.
  • Lead initiatives at the intersection of climate resilience, innovation, and education.
  • Support partnerships with student unions and community organizations.

What are we looking for?

We welcome UK-based leaders who are entrepreneurial, credible, and ready to drive purposeful change.

We are seeking a trustee who is passionate about education, social impact, and climate resilience. Our ideal trustee is someone who shares our mission of creating innovative, sustainable educational programmes and who can help guide our organisation to maximise its social impact. We are looking for a UK-based individual who brings both strategic insight and a commitment to values-driven leadership.

A successful trustee will have experience in governance, strategy, or senior leadership roles, ideally within social enterprises, educational organisations, charities, or innovation-driven businesses. They will understand how to support an organisation in making effective decisions, managing risk, and ensuring accountability to stakeholders, funders, and communities. Experience in governance, whether on a board or in an advisory capacity, is particularly valuable, as trustees are legally responsible for the charity’s wellbeing and for safeguarding its reputation.

We are especially looking for trustees who can bring credibility to our governance and strengthen our organisation’s capacity to secure funding, partnerships, and loan applications. This requires someone who is entrepreneurial yet values-aligned, comfortable with innovation, and able to navigate complex challenges while maintaining focus on our social purpose. A trustee with experience in finance, fundraising, or impact measurement would be a strong asset, helping us translate our mission into measurable outcomes and sustainable growth.

In addition to professional skills, we value personal qualities such as integrity, empathy, and a collaborative mindset. Our ideal trustee is proactive, open to new ideas, and willing to challenge constructively, helping the organisation evolve in response to emerging opportunities and societal needs. They should be able to balance strategic thinking with a deep understanding of the practical realities of delivering social impact projects.

We also welcome trustees with specific lived experience relevant to our mission. This could include experience of the education system—particularly higher education or lifelong learning—experience with environmental or climate resilience initiatives, or an understanding of the challenges faced by underrepresented or marginalised communities. Such perspectives help ensure our programmes are inclusive, relevant, and impactful.

In summary, we are looking for a trustee who:

  • Shares our vision for innovation, education, and social impact.
  • Brings credible governance experience and strategic insight.
  • Can strengthen our funding, partnerships, and organisational sustainability.
  • Demonstrates integrity, empathy, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Has professional or lived experience relevant to education, social enterprise, or climate resilience.

By joining our board, a trustee will play a critical role in shaping the future of the Floating Campus initiative, ensuring our organisation continues to deliver meaningful, sustainable impact for learners, educators, and communities alike.

What difference will you make?

The Impact Director (SVP) plays a pivotal role in shaping the vision, strategy, and long-term success of our Floating Campus initiative, a project designed to revolutionise education through innovation, climate resilience, and social purpose. By taking on this role, you directly influence our organisation’s ability to deliver meaningful change and scale our impact to benefit communities across the UK and beyond.

As Impact Director, you will provide governance expertise and strategic leadership that ensures our organisation operates with integrity, transparency, and effectiveness. Your guidance strengthens our decision-making structures, making us more credible and resilient in the eyes of partners, investors, and regulators. This governance foundation is critical for securing funding and supporting loan applications, which in turn allows us to expand our reach and deliver our programmes more efficiently.

Your leadership will also be central to driving innovation in climate-resilient education. By shaping initiatives that blend sustainability with learning, you help ensure that our work addresses the urgent challenges facing society today while equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need for the future. Your work will empower educators, students, and communities to adopt new approaches, creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond our immediate projects.

The SVP Impact Director role also fosters strategic partnerships with university student unions, community organisations, and industry leaders. These collaborations are essential for delivering high-quality educational programmes, opening up work experience opportunities for students, and providing access to sustainable resources. By connecting stakeholders and aligning them around our mission, you help us achieve outcomes that would not be possible in isolation.

In short, your contribution as Impact Director will directly strengthen our organisation’s capacity to make a difference. Every decision you help shape, every partnership you develop, and every programme you guide will amplify our impact on education, climate resilience, and social equity. This is an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on an organisation committed to meaningful change, ensuring that our work continues to improve lives and create a more sustainable, inclusive future.

By joining us in this role, you are not only supporting our organisation’s growth and sustainability but also actively contributing to the causes we champion—empowering learners, supporting educators, and addressing the global challenges of our time.
