The Unit Management Team meet approx every 6-8 weeks for 1-2 hours with the expectation there may be additional work in between.

What will you be doing?

The Sea Cadets is the UK’s leading maritime charity and provides a head start in life for young people through nautical adventure and fun. Our volunteers work, both directly with young people and behind the scenes, to help make a positive difference to young people who are often struggling in today’s world and their communities.

Worcester Sea Cadets are currently looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to join its Unit Management Team (UMT) and take a role of Health, Safety and Facilities Co-ordinator.

About the Health and Safety Trustee role:

  • To manage risk assessments and ensure all H&S policies and checks are completed and upheld
  • To report any incidents or potential H&S issues to the Unit Management Team
  • Induct new volunteers with regards to safety requirements.
  • To advise all Volunteers, parents and cadets on Health and Safety Issues
  • Attend a regular UMT meeting - usually 1 hour, monthly or bi-monthly, on a weekday evening

What are we looking for?

  • We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively within the Unit Management Team and the wider Sea Cadet organisation.  
  • Previous experience in writing and managing risk assessments
  • The ability to promote health and safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Sea Cadets and volunteers.  
  • Good communication skills
  • A desire to improve lives of young people

What difference will you make?

The aim of Sea Cadets is to give young people with a head start in life through nautical adventure and fun.  Our cadets come away with life life skills, qualifications, and confidence.  The role of Health and Safety Trustee plays a vital role in our Unit Management Team to help ensure the unit is running safely.
