Help us grow Qwan Ki Do’s impact in the community. Support fundraising and projects for children, older people, self-defence awareness, Tai Chi, and club development. Your skills can help us reach more people and build a stronger future.

What will you be doing?

Qwan Ki Do is a community martial arts club and CASC organisation that has been serving people in our community for the past 14 years. We are looking for a volunteer to help us grow our fundraising and community projects so that we can reach more children, young people, older people, and families.
The volunteer will support our club by helping us research funding opportunities, prepare grant applications, and develop clear project ideas that can attract support. This includes fundraising for equipment renewal, club decoration, community events, children’s self-defence awareness sessions, Tai Chi for older people, and other wellbeing-focused projects. They may also help us build relationships with local businesses, donors, and community partners.
A key part of the role will be turning ideas into practical deliverables. This could include short project summaries, funding bids, basic budgets, sponsor letters, and simple plans that show the value of each project and the impact it will have. We would also welcome help with keeping track of deadlines, applications, contact lists, and progress, so that our fundraising work is organised and consistent.
Our club is led day to day by a club manager and supported by instructors and volunteers who focus on delivering martial arts classes and community activity. This role sits alongside that work and helps us strengthen the club behind the scenes, so our team can continue delivering high-quality sessions while we develop and grow.
We are especially interested in someone who can help us build a stronger future for the club by supporting projects that benefit the wider community. The volunteer’s work will help us create more opportunities for children to build confidence and self-belief, for older people to stay active and connected, and for families to access welcoming, positive community activities.
This role is flexible and could suit someone who can give a few hours a week or take on a project-based piece of work. We are looking for someone organised, positive, and motivated by community impact.

What are we looking for?

Qwan Ki Do is looking for someone who is organised, motivated, and genuinely interested in helping a community club grow. The ideal volunteer will be someone who enjoys bringing ideas to life and can help us turn good intentions into practical action.
The most important qualities for this role are reliability, initiative, and a positive attitude. We need someone who is comfortable working independently, managing their own time, and following through on tasks. Good communication skills are important, especially for writing short funding summaries, emails, and basic project notes.
Experience in fundraising, grant writing, sponsorship, community projects, marketing, project coordination, or administration would be very useful. Someone with experience in research, writing, or organising information would also be a great fit. If the volunteer has worked with charities, sports clubs, community groups, or local projects before, that would be an advantage.
We would especially welcome someone who understands how to present community impact clearly. Our club supports children, young people, older people, and families, so the ideal volunteer will be able to help us show why our work matters and how it benefits the community. Experience with small budgets, project planning, or preparing simple funding applications would be helpful too.
Because some of our work will involve building relationships with local supporters and funders, we are looking for someone who is friendly, professional, and confident in communication. They should be able to work as part of a small team while also taking ownership of tasks when needed.
You do not need to know everything already. What matters most is having the right mindset, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to help us grow. If the volunteer has strong writing, organising, or fundraising skills, they can make a real difference to our future and to the community we serve.

What difference will you make?

This role will help Qwan Ki Do grow into a stronger, more sustainable club that can do even more for the people it serves. For the past 14 years, we have supported our community through martial arts, confidence-building, and positive activity, but we know there is still much more we can do. With the right volunteer support, we can open the door to new funding, develop meaningful projects, and reach people who may not otherwise have access to what we offer.
The impact of this role will be felt across the community. For children and young people, it means more opportunities to build confidence, discipline, self-belief, and self-defence skills in a safe and supportive environment. For older people, it means more chances to stay active, connected, and well through activities such as Tai Chi, which can support both physical movement and mental wellbeing. For families and local residents, it means more community projects, more inclusive activities, and a club that feels welcoming and valuable to the wider area.
This role will also help us strengthen the club behind the scenes. By supporting fundraising and project development, the volunteer will help us improve equipment, develop better systems, and create the foundations for long-term growth. That means we can spend less time struggling to find resources and more time focusing on the people who benefit from our work.
Most importantly, this role will help turn good intentions into real action. It will allow us to move from ideas to projects, from need to delivery, and from limited reach to greater impact. The volunteer will be part of something that is practical, meaningful, and deeply rooted in community service.
We believe martial arts can do far more than teach technique. It can build character, create confidence, support wellbeing, and bring people together. This role will help us extend that vision, so that more children, older people, and families can benefit from the positive difference our club makes every day.
