Fundraising & Partnerships Trustee

What will you be doing?

As the organisation enters an important phase of development, we are strengthening our governance and strategic foundations to support sustainable growth and increased impact. Alongside this, we are undertaking a strategic review to explore how Aston-Mansfield can diversify services, strengthen partnerships and build long-term sustainability.

Developing a strong and resilient fundraising approach will be an important part of this next stage. Like many charities, we operate within a challenging funding landscape and are working to strengthen and diversify our income streams across trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, public sector opportunities and other forms of support.

We are therefore seeking a trustee with experience in fundraising, partnerships or income generation who can support the Board in overseeing this important area of the organisation’s development.

As a trustee you will contribute to board discussions on fundraising strategy and help ensure that income generation remains aligned with Aston-Mansfield’s mission, values and longbterm direction. Your will will help the Senior Leadership Team and Board consider opportunities for income diversification and partnership development, while also supporting appropriate oversight of risks connected to fundraising activity.

You will act as a strategic sounding board for the Chief Executive and leadership team as they continue to develop the organisation’s fundraising capability and partnerships. The trustee will also bring insight into fundraising trends, best practice and developments across the wider sector.

Our Board works closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team and aims to provide constructive support and challenge in a collaborative and respectful environment.

What are we looking for?

Essential

• Significant experience relevant to fundraising, income generation, partnerships or business development, with the ability to contribute at a strategic level.
• Strong understanding of the fundraising environment and the challenges faced by small to medium sized charities.
• Strategic thinking skills, sound independent judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively.
• Commitment to Aston-Mansfield’s mission, values and beneficiaries.
• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a board and build trusted relationships with senior staff.
• A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a Trustee

Desirable

• Experience of charity fundraising, including trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, individual or philanthropic giving.
• Experience of income diversification, organisational growth or change.
• Knowledge of charity governance, regulation and risk management.

Your contribution will help ensure that Aston-Mansfield is well positioned to secure the resources needed to continue delivering services and expanding opportunities for the communities we serve.

Ultimately, your involvement will help strengthen the organisation’s ability to support children, young people and families in Newham ensuring that services remain responsive to community needs and that Aston-Mansfield can continue to grow its impact in the years ahead.
