About ENN
Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN) is an internationally recognised organisation dedicated to reducing undernutrition in vulnerable populations around the world. We enhance the effectiveness of nutrition policy and programming by improving knowledge, stimulating learning, connecting key actors and building evidence. ENN is independent, evidence-based and network-driven.

Our vision is a world where every individual facing a nutritional emergency or suffering from malnutrition receives the most effective support possible. Based in Oxfordshire, UK, we work with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and researchers, supporting practitioners mainly in low- and middle-income and crisis-affected countries.

The Role
We are seeking a fluent French speaker to volunteer with ENN in support of our communication, translation and engagement activities with French-speaking audiences across Africa and beyond.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause, support the global nutrition sector, and gain experience working with a respected international NGO.

Key Tasks

  • Translate short technical documents or messages from English to French
  • Draft or translate social media content for French-speaking audiences
  • Attend virtual meetings in French and take accurate minutes
  • Provide quality assurance and feedback on French translations
  • Support outreach to French-speaking contributors for ENN’s work

Requirements

  • Fluency in French (C1 or C2 level), with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong written comprehension of English
  • Attention to detail and interest in nutrition, health, or humanitarian work
  • Willingness to volunteer on a flexible, ad hoc basis
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly

What We Offer
This voluntary role provides first-hand experience in a respected organisation addressing global malnutrition. You’ll contribute to impactful communications and be invited to participate in technical meetings in both English and French, gaining insight into ENN’s work and networks.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who can offer the following:

  • Fluency in French (C1 or C2 level), with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of written English, especially to translate technical content accurately
  • Attention to detail, particularly when working with specialist terminology or complex topics
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely, adapting tone and style to suit different audiences
  • Strong organisational skills – able to manage tasks independently and meet informal deadlines
  • Interest in global nutrition, health, or humanitarian issues
  • Confidence using digital tools such as email, shared drives, video conferencing, and online collaboration platforms
  • Cultural sensitivity and openness – comfortable working with colleagues and audiences from diverse backgrounds
  • A collaborative mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute as part of a remote team

Previous experience in translation, communications, public health, or international development. Enthusiasm, reliability, and a desire to support ENN’s mission are just as important.

What difference will you make?

As a French Language Volunteer, your support will directly strengthen ENN’s ability to connect with nutrition practitioners, researchers, and policymakers in French-speaking countries. By making technical content accessible in French, you’ll help ensure that life-saving knowledge reaches those working on the front lines of malnutrition where timely, relevant information can shape programme decisions and improve outcomes for infants, children, and mothers.

Your contribution will enhance inclusivity in global dialogue, enabling more equitable participation from French-speaking communities in the nutrition sector. This work plays a key part in ENN’s mission to ensure evidence-based practices are shared widely and acted upon, no matter the language barrier.
