What will you be doing?

As a Board member, you will have an essential role in contributing to the future direction of supporting autistic survivors of sexual violence and making a real difference to their wellbeing.

We are now achieving increased success with our fundraising and have been able to begin two of our projects. In addition, we have achieved greater uptake of our training across the sector both within and outside of the region. Nevertheless, we are experiencing uneven income through our funding streams due to marketing challenges.

For this reason, we are looking for Board members with experience working with CIC’s who are at an early stage of development (year 3). What are we looking for?

Essential

• Excellent understanding of CIC regulations and procedure
• Excellent understanding of grant procedures and management
• Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of business strategy and financial legislation
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow administration 
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and reporting skills
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
• Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage and prioritise workload
• Commitment to confidentiality
• Understanding of the issues facing the neurodivergent community and survivors of sexual violence

• Willingness to undertake training as needed

What difference will you make?

As a Board member with financial skills, you will be able to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the organisation as well as actioning financial administration and grant management tasks. This is fundamental to ensuring that we achieve our mission, namely to ensure that autistic survivors of sexual violence and related abuse are believed and supported throughout their recovery journey.

This year, we are aiming to extend our work through increased production across all our funding streams: collaborative projects, training, and webinars. Your role will be pivotal in this as your financial advice and guidance to the Board will inform decision-making in these areas.

You will work with the Board to prepare the organisation’s financial accounts, presenting these in a timely manner to HMRC., and developing and controlling the CIC’s annual operating budget. You will also work with the Board to ensure compliance with financial procedures and regulations.

This is a critical role in our organisation, and we are looking for someone with good communication skills, knowledge of accounts, management information and financial legislation and understanding of the issues facing the neurodivergent community and survivors of sexual violence.
