Digtal Volunteer for Education Charity
The Uganda School Project (TUSP) is a small international development NGO founded in 2016. We support children in rural Uganda to access quality primary education through the construction of school facilities and in-classroom programming, e.g teacher training.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a hands-on Digital Volunteer to support the execution of our digital roadmap across content, SEO and paid media, as well as other marketing and stewardship that helps us grow awareness, engagement and fundraising for children’s education in Namisindwa District, rural eastern Uganda.
This is an execution-focused role, working against a clearly defined plan and priorities. Strategic direction, guidance and onboarding will be provided.
The role is ideal for someone with broad digital experience who wants to contribute their skills to a meaningful cause, without the pressure of full ownership or performance accountability.
You’ll support the implementation of a digital roadmap, focusing primarily on:
- Writing and publishing website and campaign content
- Supporting basic SEO improvements (on-page optimisation, content structure, visibility improvements)
- Assisting with paid media activity where appropriate (e.g. Google Ad Grants support, ad copy updates, keyword hygiene)
- Helping keep digital channels aligned with agreed priorities and messaging
- Digital Marketing & Channel Activations
- Creating and managing supporter onboarding journey
Experience with paid media and Google Ad Grants is highly desirable, but this role will focus on supporting and assisting activity, not owning grant strategy, compliance or performance.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Hands-on and practical
- Comfortable working across content, SEO and paid media
- Sensitive to ethical storytelling, imagery and language in an international development context
Experience in international development or charity work is helpful but not essential.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Hands-on and practical
- Strong written communication skills, copy writing and creating contednt
- Comfortable working across content, SEO and paid media at an execution level
- Happy to follow an agreed roadmap and priorities
- Sensitive to ethical storytelling, imagery and language in an international development context
- Connection to Uganda / Education is desired but not essential.
What difference will you make?
We are looking for someone with skills and experience in Digital and SEO execution as this will help guide new and existing supporters to learn more about the NGO - engaging, informing and motivating them to get involved along the way.
This will help us reach a wider audience, generate fundraising for the organisation, and ultimately expand the scope of our activities: more school construction and more educational capacity building in rural Uganda.
We are looking for someone ‘hands-on’, self-motivated and with some time to spare for operational support - approx 3-5 hours a week (but this is very flexible and can be discussed).
