Chair/Co-Chair of the Board
Tall Stories seeks a Chair/Co-Chair to lead our Board through an exciting period of growth. You will provide strategic leadership, helping us create inspiring stories for children and families while strengthening our artistic ambition, impact and sustainability.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the Board of Trustees, ensuring strong governance, compliance and financial sustainability.
- Help shape and deliver Tall Stories’ strategy, supporting long-term growth and impact.
- Work closely with the Executive team to achieve our vision, ambitions and objectives.
- Provide constructive challenge and support on strategic and commercial decisions.
- Champion theatre for all and help expand Tall Stories’ reach and impact.
What are we looking for?
- An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, outlined by the Charity Commission.
- A passion and interest for theatre and a commitment to Tall Stories’ brand promises.
- A strategic and commercial approach to organisational development.
- Good, independent judgement.
- Financial literacy.

Leadership and facilitation of constructive discussions.
We are eager to hear from interested individuals with a broad range of backgrounds and expertise. Particular areas of experience that are of interest are:
- Running and scaling businesses from a range of sectors.
- Developing new income streams and business models within any sector

The Chair or Co-Chair will help Tall Stories maximise its impact for children, families and communities by ensuring the organisation remains ambitious, sustainable and able to reach more audiences with inspiring theatre.
Through strong governance, strategic leadership and support for the Executive team, they will help us deliver our vision of creating stories that broaden horizons, inspire generations and bring joy. They will play a key role in shaping our future direction, helping us increase our artistic ambition, deepen our community engagement and strengthen our ability to create meaningful experiences for audiences.
For almost 30 years, Tall Stories has brought imagination, laughter and connection to audiences across the UK and around the world. The Chair or Co-Chair will help us build on this legacy, ensuring our work continues to have a lasting impact by reaching diverse communities and creating opportunities for children and families to experience the transformative power of theatre.
