I am an English qualified solicitor, with over ten years of experience in the legal profession. My background is in litigation and risk management, with knowledge of a range of different practice areas including: commercial contracts, negligence, investigations, public inquires, insolvency, company law, Brexit risk, GDPR and privacy. I have worked closely with a number of different entities over the years including company boards, charities, health trusts, local government, publicly owned companies, insurers, regulators, press and public relations.
Alongside my day job it has been particularly important to me give back to broader society. My volunteering experience includes the East London Out Project, Asylum Support Appeal Project, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Crisis. I’ve also previously been involved in providing pro-bono advice to the Human Dignity Trust in its ongoing attempts to decriminalise homosexuality across the globe.
I’m excited to sign up to Reach as I’ve recently taken on a new job which gives me much more free time to volunteer. At this point in my life, I see volunteering at board/trustee level to help a charitable organisation to achieve its goals as well suited to my skill set. I believe my time in legal practice has honed the people skills, sound judgment, project management and strategic thinking required to thrive in such a role.
I am particularly interested in volunteering at board/trustee level to help a charitable organisation to achieve its goals as well suited to my skill set. With respect to causes, I am open minded but my background has been working closely with the LGBT+ community; asylum seekers and refugees and homeless people so organisations working in those areas would be of interest. Otherwise, any organisation that is looking for someone with a legal background.
