Work history

About me

I am currently a Sponsorship Director in National Highways overseeing the governance and government relationships for a large portfolio of infrastructure projects.  I am expecting to retire in the not too distant future and am looking for opportunities to add value through volunteering as I will have additional free time.

I started my career undertaking research into Virology at Warwick University.  I then joined HMRC and am a fully trained Tax Inspector with experience in reviewing and auditing financial accounts.  My career within HMRC then diversified to project, programme and portfolio management and I now have many years of experience overseeing projects with +£many billion cost.

I have worked for a range of organisations on secondment from HMRC - including most recently the Infrastructure and Projects Authority in Cabinet Office for 2 years.  In that role I headed up the data analysis of major government projects.

I was Chair of the Audit Committee at Worcester University, a Trustee at a local Bedford charity and am currently a Visiting Professor at Manchester University - so have a broad range of experience in the voluntary sector.

I am very interested in professional diversity, mental and physical wellbeing and ensuring value from effective investments and would be delighted to support an organisation in a voluntary capacity that can make use of my skill set.

What am I looking for

I am interested in roles that would enable me to utilise my core skills of leadership, organisation, strategic oversight and delivery of outcomes.  I also have financial and data analytical experience.

I would like to operate at a senior level within the organisation but am happy to get involved in a "hands on" capacity to provide maximum support and value.

I have a broad range of interests but supporting minority groups, well being of individuals including issues such as homelessness, mental health etc are of primary interest.  I am also an animal lover and would be happy to support a related charity
