As a photographer and director with over 30 years of experience, I’ve worked across a broad spectrum of projects — from large-scale commercial beauty campaigns to intimate reportage in conflict zones. My background in documentary photography has taught me how to work quickly, sensitively, and with respect for the people I photograph. These are skills that translate well to voluntary work, where empathy, discretion, and clarity of purpose are essential.
Throughout my career, I’ve always returned to projects with a social dimension — whether documenting traditional coca use in the Andes, or photographing for charities such as Comic Relief and the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Trust. Volunteering as a photographer gives me the chance to offer my skills in a direct and meaningful way, using imagery to support organisations doing vital work.
I’m particularly interested in storytelling — not just creating beautiful images, but images that convey dignity, complexity, and truth. I’m excited about volunteering because I believe photography has the power to amplify unheard voices and bring attention to stories that matter. I’m also comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and happy to contribute in whatever way is most useful.
I’m interested in volunteering roles where I can use my photography to support causes I care about — particularly refugee support, human rights, poverty and sports. I bring years of experience capturing people with honesty and respect, whether in fast-paced environments or more reflective settings. I’ve worked everywhere from advertising sets to war zones, and I understand how to work sensitively and intuitively. I’m drawn to stories of resilience, solidarity, and everyday courage, and I want to use my skills to help tell them in a way that feels real, human, and impactful.
