As the child of asylum seekers, civic responsibility is important to me. Two decades ago, I volunteered at a youth centre because I believed in the value of intervening early for maximum impact.
Volunteering then took a back seat as I focused on my career, eventually cofounding my own consultancy. Nevertheless, during my career, I regularly worked on research projects for clients in the charity sector, such as Cancer UK. My work has focused on social and psychological research as well statistical analyses, e.g. evaluating efficacies of interventions, conducting literature reviews and meta-analyses. Later in my career I founded an edtech startup, backed by angel investors, as we spotted inefficiencies in the market to help jobseekers.
Now that I have established myself and feel comfortable, I can focus some time on volunteering.
I think it would be fantastic to combine my skillsets with a team of talented and motivated individuals to make together a significant impact to improve other people's lives. I look for interesting and challenging projects that require significant amounts of thinking.
