About me

I am the founder of Ventures Consulting a product strategy and design consultancy. I design functionality, services and interfaces, develop product strategies and work with development teams on new product ventures. I have delivered projects for established companies, start-ups, NGOs and public sector organisations.

I was recently an advisor to tech start-up that has developed a supply chain analysis product and was previously a Non-Executive Director for the Electoral Reform Society.

My interest lies in finding new opportunities for positive change in the world and I am a strong believer in using creative approaches to solve complex design problems. As such I have worked on projects to:

  • Design complex user journeys for decision support systems with use cases such as anti-money laundering and deforestation risk screening
  • Developed strategies to make information and data access easier for non-technical users, especially for open data sources to improve transparency and accountability
  • Advise companies that are trying to turn good ideas into products and services that are useful, usable and provide a positive user experience
  • Take initial ideas and turn these into functional prototypes and then launch early iterations of a product

My work often involves advising senior executives, but I also believe in beings hands on when it comes to designing and creating and I prefer to lead by example.

I have a BSc in Physics from the University of Bath and an MSc in Human-Computer Interaction Design from City University of London. My science background has helped me to work on projects at the forefront of technology including machine learning and graph databases and my design training has enabled me to blend understanding of technology and feasibility with my creative skills.

What am I looking for

I am interested in non-executive director or trustee positions. Along with governance of businesses and organisations I can support with:

  • Digital strategy
  • Due diligence related to sanctions, supply chains as well as development of statements on modern slavery

I am also happy to speak at events for young people thinking about a career in tech.
