About me

I have extensive experience in advising academics and medical professionals from a patient or lay member perspective. My patient involvement experience includes ethics, guidance development, quality standards, steering and advisory groups, diagnostics, technology appraisal and reviewing.

I advise academics as a member of the public panel at the FARR Institute, City University (London), Bristol University, Oxford University and Manchester University to name just a few. I also review research applications for i4i, Research for Patient Benefit, Cochrane Reviews, the British Medical Journal, Health Research Wales and the Policy Research Programme.

I am an active member of both the Health Technology Assessment Women and Children's Health Panel, Research for Patient Benefit East of England Committee and the NICE Technology Appraisal Committee D panel. I was also a Lay Plus Member and Alternate Vice Chair of the Cambridge East Health Research Authority for three years between 2014 to 2017.

I have experience of health research involving children, pregnancy, inflammatory bowel disease, osteo-arthritis, respiratory diseases and cancer to name a few. My current involvement in projects varies from month to month but I always try to keep my voluntary work profile up to date.

What am I looking for

Lay member role, patient involvement in research, reviewing, grant application panels, scientific advisor.
