My consulting work is hectic but flexible; I can clear time with advance notice, and can generally dedicate 5-6 hours a week to volunteering.
I've very recently moved from the US to London. I've been a programmer and an economist, and currently provide evaluation services to postsecondary educational institutions and international development NGOs. In terms of civic engagement and volunteering, before moving I served as a school trustee (governor), wrote for local news publications, founded a civic engagement network that had 700 active volunteers in 22 states, and have supported local charities and municipal agencies with data analysis, research, and evidence-based strategic planning.
I found my recent experience serving on a board very rewarding, and am looking for other opportunities to serve as a trustee. The chance to share what I've learnt professionally, and learn from these incredible organisations and assist them in their missions would be a privilege indeed.
