My name is Nijah, and I'm a fundraising and communications professional with five-plus years of experience working within VCSE, complemented by ten years of experience in digital marketing and communications. I have secured over £500,000 of funding through strategic grant applications to help charities, CICs, and grassroots organisations build their capacity and achieve sustainable growth and development goals. As a freelance consultant, I've developed tailored strategies for organisations to enhance financial resilience and impactful digital communications.
I am passionate about equity and inclusion, predominantly but not exclusively for Black and racially minoritised groups. This passion has driven much of my work, from my role as Vice Chair to leading the REACH Staff Network at the National Lottery Community Fund and championing the cause of advocacy and equity for over 100 colleagues. Additionally, I have provided strategic leadership on initiatives such as the Windrush 75 campaign and the Phoenix Way Programme, ensuring participatory approaches in grantmaking to racially minoritised groups.Currently a PwC Social Entrepreneurs Club member, I continue to understand in-depth the challenges of CICs and social enterprises in their respective entrepreneurial journeys.
My main interests include making a compelling case for support, and developing fundraising plans aligned with the organisational mission.
I am looking for a volunteering opportunity matching my fundraising, communication, and strategic leadership skills.
I am mainly interested in the role of trustee or chair, where I can use my experience in governance, advocacy, and capacity building to support organisations addressing social and economic inequalities.
I am also keen to participate in fundraising and communications projects, helping organisations secure resources and amplify their impact.
