After 23 years in financial services, I am seeking new opportunities to transfer my skills into a variety of different contexts across the wider economy and society. Key skills are in corporate / organisational finance, financial, general and strategic management, consulting, advising and mentoring. I've given up a lot of personal time in recent years to mentor others. I've found this to be a very rewarding experience and feedback from my mentees suggests they've benefitted very positively too. I also care a lot about developing high performance, values-based cultures across organisations and finding ways to align objectives and break down the barriers that cause dysfunctionality. I am practical, pragmatic and creative and can normally bring a different idea or perspective to the table.
Among other causes, I've been a long term supporter of the NSPCC, RNLI and the National Trust. I'm a husband and father of two teenagers; I like photography, design, fixing and building things and working with wood; I'm a keen motorist, motorcyclist and cyclist; and I love exploring the great outdoors, expecially when walking the dog.
I’m particularly looking for situations where I can positively assist the development of organisations and people, bringing to bear my experiences of working with others at all stages of careers and corporate lifecycles. I can help with analysis, problem solving, organisational and strategic development, making teams and boards work, developing and mentoring others, financial management, understanding risk and liquidity challenges. I care particularly about dealing with poverty, social justice and fairness, safeguarding children from abuse and neglect, conservation and environment, driving standards and safety.
