Work history

About me

I have worked as an IT professional for over 35 years predominantly in Social Housing and Higher Education, and more recently in health care and at the Royal British Legion. I have developed IT strategy and IT governance, and been responsible for the procurement and implementation of various IT business systems and technical infrastructures, and their subsequent management.

I have been responsible for leading multi-disciplinary project teams from across organizations, successfully dealing with the complexities of matrix management and internal politics. I am experienced in both Prince II and Agile-type methodologies, as well as ITIL. I have implemented a variety of commercial off-the-shelf systems, delivered as in-house and cloud hosted, as well as bespoke software developments.

I have line managed both contract and permanent staff and volunteers at various levels, and developed IT teams to improve performance and customer service.

The focus throughout my career has been to use IT to help improve the performance of people and organizations, and the delivery of great customer services.

I am now retired and looking for part time volunteer/interim/contract/non-exec work, and I am prepared to travel within the UK.

What am I looking for

A Trustee or advisor role to a UK based charity which needs advice developing its IT strategy and benefit from an experienced change manager. Ideally a charity which targets vulnerable people on the ground .
