About me

I've worked for over 20 years in the corporate sector, as a software trainer and eLearning developer. I've previously undertaken volunteer work for the Project Management Institute, as well as for smaller scale organisations such as the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds as a heritage guide and for a local talking newspaper charity.

It has always been important to me to get fulfilment from continually growing, both in terms of types of communities with which I can engage and the mutual benefit of skills I can share and experiences I can gain.

I hope that by being open to new things, it has helped me stay flexible in my thinking and always open to engaging with new ideas - my worst case scenario is to become ruled by habit and lose a sense of creativity.

My own family has been a beneficiary of charitable organisations and I have met some fabulous people along the way. The one thing that has been a constant throughout is that taking a communal approach allows a process of giving and receiving - which sounds terribly cheesy - but it does reflect my own personal experience over 30 years.

I'm looking for opportunities to volunteer with charities, where I can offer skills as a communicator, whether that is through L&D opportunities or by using my editing skills in videography and audio production.

What am I looking for

I have extensive software training and eLearning developer skills to offer, but I am particularly interested in expanding into video editing opportunities.

My initial video editing skills arose from development of eLearning materials (animating screen captures, editing sequences and processes) as well as working to produce audio books and drama. I decided to expand this and am now completing a degree in Digital Film Production at the University of Suffolk, to build on my understanding of film making (documentary and drama) using Adobe, Avid and DaVinci software suites, as well as DSLR and Blackmagic equipment.
