I have worked in the television broadcast industry for thirty years in both the private and charitable sector. I am skilled in people and project management and having been Director of two small production companies know about running a business. In my current role as Head of Commissioning at the charity BSLBT, a dual language organisation (BSL and English), I am accountable for all our television commissions and have gained understanding of Deaf Culture (I am hearing).
In commissioning I set strategy, manage a budget of over two million, whilst also being a hands on line manager. I am skilled in presenting information at Board level and am also responsible for skills development of Deaf programme makers.
My other passion is wildlife and conservation. I volunteered for the Fringe events at CoP26 at Glasgow in 2021, I have also volunteered as a Wildlife Watch Leader for the BCN Wildlife Trust and a local Heritage Lottery community project. Over the past twelve years I have worked with my husband to establish a five acre wildlife haven in the midst of intensively farmed Norfolk countryside.
I am keen to volunteer for organisations which operate in the media and/or conservation, wildlife, bio-diversity and climate change. This might include community engagement, volunteer management, practical hands on volunteering or opportunities at Board level. I live on the borders of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk and am keen to connect locally. I offer financial, project and people management skills. I have strong communication skills and soft skills of empathy and listening, plus the hands on knowledge of television production and creating a wildlife habitat.
