About me

My work sector experience covers the Diplomatic Service, Civil Service, partner in a management consultancy and manager in the third sector.  I am currently work as a nature reserve manager for a wildlife charity.

In a voluntary capacity I have been a board member and vice chair of a large housing association (including Chair of Finance and Resources sub-committee) and chair of a youth project.

I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.  I have an MA in Mediaeval History from the University of St Andrews and a BSc in Environmental Conservation from Birkbeck, University of London.

Key skills and experience I can offer include:

  • understanding of the third sector, both as trustee and employee
  • people management; I have managed up to 120 staff and as a consultant worked on the design and delivery of people management and leadership development programmes
  • organisational development (this was my key area of consultancy expertise)
  • experience of operating at both strategic and operational levels
  • financial and budget management in the private, public and charity sectors
  • an understanding of and insight into the process of policy making in government
  • an ability to work in large and small teams, permanent and temporary
  • the capacity to build and lead teams
