About me

Hi, I'm Kat - a copywriter and UX writer based around Newcastle Upon Tyne. I started writing for the local press in 2014, and since then have built a successful freelance career across the tech, sustainable travel, and green energy industries.

The projects I take on fall into two main categories:

  • Marketing and advertising copywriting: planning and writing content for major campaigns, including organic SEO, social media, print, Google Ads, and email.
  • UX writing and content design: working with design teams to build accessible, engaging, and usable apps and websites. I take care of which information goes where (the 'information hierarchy') as well as the words you see on the screen.

My clients frequently tell me that they appreciate the balance of creativity and analysis I bring to projects, as well as my enthusiasm and commitment to tight deadlines.

Client testimonial

“Great copywriting is a genuine artform and finding a great copywriter is and always will be a challenge. Find one who thinks deeply on the challenge to be overcome and can flex style and approach across all digital channel at pace and you’re onto a sure-fire winner. Kat is most definitely one of those.”

What am I looking for

  • Conservation: as a keen wildlife photographer, walker, and surfer, I want to make sure our wild spaces are there for future generations to enjoy.
  • Access to key services: I'm passionate about keeping accessibility at the forefront of my UX work. I'd like to use this experience to make key services accessible to more people.
  • Access to arts, culture and heritage: I hold a postgraduate degree in History, so would be particularly interested in projects that allow more people to engage with discussions around our past.
