I am self employed. My availability will need to be worked out with the organisation I work with. It's up for discussion
I specialise in developing people so the person and the organisation will achieve more. Coaching, mentoring, training leaders and managers in order to help people be more confident and competent and to help the organisation deliver its aims. My experience includes working with private and public sector as well as volunteers. I have been a trustee for two charities so understand the particular challenges in the charitable sector.
As a strategic thinker, I am always looking one step ahead. How can this person achieve what is important to them? How can this team achieve more of its visions? I have a solid background in leading teams and working in them, so that strategy, vision and goals can be defined and delivered.
My core knowledge & experience includes design and delivery of strategy, business plans, developing leaders & managers, helping teams to understand each other and work together better and change management. I have a good understanding of governance and how to apply it.
My professional career is centred on developing people and organisations. I love knowing that I have helped people and the places they work, find a way to be more of who they are meant to be. I have a lot of experience in working with individuals and groups, helping people to find ways to work more effectively, enabling each group member to contribute in a meaningful way and helping individuals to have the confidence and skills to make their contribution. As a coach and mentor my approach is to help people identify where they are, where they want to be and then work with them to help them get from one to the other.
It's very much the same with organisations. You know where you are and where you want to be. Getting everyone involved and committed to that vision, then making it happen is the challenge. My approach is to listen, ask questions, then help find a way forward that works for for the team or organisation.
I have experience of being a volunteer, working with volunteers and managing them so I do understand the issues faced by charities who rely on volunteers. I also understand how critical the leadership and managment of charities is. If that is not right then the rest of the team will struggle. Providing support and development for the leaders is often a necessary step in developing any organisation.
Charitable work: Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) operational and fundraising trustee for about 3 years. Non exec/ trustee for The Learning Curve (delivering training to disadvantaged adults) for over a year. Chair of Warminster in Bloom for about 18 months, member of Warminster Economy and Tourism group for about 10 years. Currently a volunteer dog walker for The Cinnamon Trust, since about 2015.
Ideally I would like to be involved on a project basis. That might be a one off activity or something a bit longer. Happy to discuss what is needed and see if we can work out a time schedule that works for both of us. I do not have the time to commit to a trustee role.
Please note that I am pretty much fully committed until April 2018 so although I am happy to talk before then, realistically I will not have time to take on any new commitments until the spring.
