Available for up to two full days each week, including during working hours.
I will retire at age 53 from a career in Finance (specifically investment management) on 31 December 2017. Consequently I can offer charities my experience and skills in investment strategy, financial management, general project or team management and governance (including at board level).
Prior to my career in finance I was an academic, with a D. Phil. in Mathematics from Oxford University and postdoctoral research experience in the UK and US. Although not a qualified teacher, I have in the past taught university courses at undergraduate level and after my undergraduate degree spent one year teaching mathematics to GCSE students at a UK secondary school. Therefore I believe that I may also be of some interest to the education sector.
In the past I have volunteered for charities supporting the physically disabled and elderly, as well as acting as a numeracy mentor for children at a London primary school.
I am passionate about nature, the environment and helping those who are socially disadvantaged in any way.
I am open to considering governance, management and/or active volunteeering roles.
Note that my financial experience is in the area of investment rather than accountancy, therefore I am probably not suitable for 'treasurer' positions .
