Work history

About me

I’ve spent nearly 20 years in the IT industry, working for companies in a number of industries from one-person start-ups to global corporations. I’ve had various roles in that time, from hands-on software development, through architecture and strategy, to most recently working in software sales.

I’m now taking a career break, dividing my time between volunteering and pursuing my passion for music.

In my time in the private sector I’ve seen the huge benefits digital projects can bring to organisations, but also the potential pitfalls. I’ve helping many companies to find the right route through this sometimes-confusing space, and I’m excited by the possibility of doing the same for charities.

I don’t have any strong biases regarding causes; the causes I particularly support are mental health, homelessness and addiction, grassroots music and animals, but I’d be delighted to help virtually any charity.

What am I looking for

My skills and experience are particularly well suited to helping with:

  • Digital strategy - figuring out how digital can add value for you, and how to get there
  • Making a financial case for digital investment (e.g. for grant applications)
  • Choosing and managing implementation agencies and software vendors
  • Hiring and developing digital staff
  • Getting value for money from digital spend
