I am a teacher/ tutor/writer, now retired. In addition to teaching, I have also worked as a civil servant dealing with benefits and unemployment and so I understand the difficulties many people face every day.
I have a degree in History and I am Chairman of my local History Society, having been Secretary of the society for over ten years. I am a Christian and I believe that my faith has been an important part of my life. I have written some religious books, the last one a prayer book published by Kevin Mayhew in March 2019.
I believe in justice, equality, human rights and the promotion of work and educational opportunities for alll, especially women and girls.
I have volunteered as a teacher through Projects Abroad in South Africa after retirement and would like to encourage others to volunteer to help abroad.
I am interested in supporting charities promoting equal opportunities, especially in education.
Whilst in South Africa, I visited the township of Vrygrond where I met the people involved with Where Rainbows Meet, an amazing Training and Development Foundation. I also visited an organisation I support, SOS Africa to see their projects providing educational opportunities to children.
I also support Plan International which supports children's education worldwide and Mosaic Middle East.
I am interested in investigating trustee roles and in supporting worldwide educational opportunities, racial and gender equality.
Charities helping the community are also of particular interest to me.
