About me

I  am a retired Corporate Director from a major construction materials company in the UK. As well as having held a variety of posts in general and production  management my experience has encompassed considerable involvement in the disciplines of Human Resources, Health & Safety, Environmental and Estate Management, Communications and Project work.

I also have experience of Pensions administration having sat as a Company Nominated Trustee on 4 pensions boards.

I was a member of the Council of the Mineral Products Industry's main trade association and chaired their Policy Advisory Group.

I was involved in the sector's education and training activities and, for  five years, was Chairman of the company which was the main Training Provider and the Ofqual registered Qualifications Awarding Organisation. I was also a Board member of one of the government sponsored Industry Sector Skills Councils.

I remain an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying having been both Director and Trustee. I served on their Policy Committee and, in the past, have undertaken the roles of International President, Chairman of Council and Chairman of their Education and Training Committee as well as being a Trustee of the Institute's Benevolent Fund.

I am a graduate in geology and have been a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.

I have served as Trustee and Treasurer of a Parochial Church Council in Leicester and have served on various fund raising committees. I have had a short volunteering engagement  in Romania working for Habitat for Humanity.

I  chaired the Teso Educational Support Services charity supporting female students through secondary  education in the deprived areas of Teso, Uganda. I also volunteer with the Prince's Trust in  mentoring young people in start up businesses and in a career progression role  .I continue to volunteer with  the charity 'Sported' helping small sporting organisations  focus on governance issues and business plan development.
