My background is in property development, including for rent and low cost home ownership. I have managed a housing association with a turnover of £7 million and assets valued of £114 million. I have commissioned residential new build and refurbishment projects with developers and contractors for a wide range of projects, either as standalone or section 106 fulfillment. My role as CEO encompassed all aspects of running a company with 40 staff, offices and a voluntary board of trustees.
I volunteer with a charity involved in refurbishing tools of all kinds and sending via container to a wide range of poorer communities in Africa and developing countries. The aim is to help people to earn a living and support themselves and their families. I also volunteer with charity shops aimed at generating income to benefit local nursing and hospice projects.
I have been a member of the Green Party for some time and involved with politics and community development. I am also completing a history degree with the Open university in my spare time!
Volunteering is a great way to give something back and I am excited to take on new challenges using my skills and experience.
I am particularly interested in volunteering roles involving housing and homelessness. I believe I have the skills and experience of developing and managing housing schemes for families and single people of all kinds. I have worked with suppliers providing ICT and office management and represented organisations in the media.
I have a wide experience of providing rural housing in villages to house local people who are priced out of owner occupation and can offer to assist housing organisations achieve tangible outcomes.
