Based in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
I would prefer to volunteer mainly at home, or will consider remote opportunities from across the UK.

Either in or out of office hours

I work 9-5:30 but can be flexible, taking calls/meetings in the day. For larger meetings, I may take time off, this is also fine.

About me

I am currently a Senior policy consultant at Technopolis (Sep 2017 - present). I have led and collaborated on studies and evaluations, mainly in science, technology and innovation. Assignments range from reviews of fellowships to organisational change, and require high level strategic decision making, analysis and stakeholder management. Challenging the status quo is a key part of my job, even with high level government representatives (UK and overseas). Budget management and planning is also a daily task for me.

I am a trustee at Sussex Students Union (Jun 2021 - present) and chair of the people and pay committee. In the past, I was a trustee at Sheffield Students’ Union after having worked as the PGR representative for 4,000 students. I also conduct independent research on doctoral student experiences.

As former Vice-chair of governors at Stanford Junior School in Brighton (May 2018 to Aug 2021) I supported the co-chairs of governors to hold the headteacher and senior leadership team to account. I also chaired the teaching, learning and standards committee, which reviews school performance data.

I am looking for another trustee position as I have enjoyed my current and previous volunteering experience, at which I have been able to both contribute and benefit. I also believe younger voices (under 30) like my own are underrepresented on the majority of boards.

What am I looking for

I am looking for trustee positions in a wide variety of areas. These include higher education (e.g. universities, unions), science, innovation and technology (e.g. research funders/foundations/initiatives), international aid, career development, health, and more. I want to offer my experience and skills from volunteering and work to support organisations to be the best they can be for their communities.

I can offer significant change management, strategy setting, data scrutiny, evaluation and people management skills. I have chairing experience and have worked across all board functions (i.e. data, finance etc.)
