About me

I can offer senior management experience in healthcare gained in a range of roles including twenty-six years gained at Director level. I have worked at Hospital, Area, Regional and National level with my career culminating in a lead role for specialised healthcare services across London. Following taking the opportunity of early retirement in 2015 I worked part-time as a consultant in healthcare and Consultant Editor of a Healthcare publication. Between 2017 and 2022 I was a Trustee of Neuroblastoma UK, a national children's cancer research charity with lead responsibility for public relations, communication, and Marketing.

The majority of my career has been spent working at the forefront of change in acute NHS healthcare, most recently in leading the development and commissioning of specialised services in London and prior to that change management in clinical Networks as Director of the South East London Cancer Network. This has enabled me to develop both my knowledge and skills in the strategic planning, development and modernisation of clinical services, project management, performance review, communication, including public relations, and the management of relationships at both regional and national levels.

I have worked in collaboration with National charities and organisations to secure funding to pilot and initiate service change with a number of these projects being subsequently rolled out nationally. I have led the public relations and communications function for both a world renowned hospital and a small national charity.

I have experience of operating at a senior level working with politicians, senior officials and managers, whether it be in presenting or active participation in working groups.

With financial management responsibility for multi-million pound budgets I am experienced of working within standing orders/financial instructions and recognise the importance of sound governance for all organisations.

I have past experience of working with a charity through previous role as a Governor of the Royal Marsden Charitable Fund and a Trustee of Neuroblastoma UK.

Although I have extensive knowledge and experience in the healthcare sector I would be interested in non-healthcare organisations and Charities as I feel my core skills are transferable. I work part-time as a freelance consultant so could devote up to 3 days per month. I would be looking to bring my experience, commitment and enthusiasm to a role as a Trustee.

What am I looking for

I am looking to bring my experience, commitment and enthusiasm to a role as a Trustee of a Charity and can devote up to 3 days per month to such a role. Although I have extensive knowledge and experience in the healthcare sector I would be interested in considering non healthcare organisations and Charities as I feel my core skills are transferable.
