Journalist/editor, communications consultant and youth media trainer with 13 years professional experience (UK, Germany, Belgium, Uganda, Tanzania).
Career path has followed charity, international development and social enterprise, with particular interest in working with / supporting young or disadvantaged people (eg as trainer/project manager for Exposure, a youth media charity in London; or as a facilitator with InsightShare, participatory media specialists).
Previous volunteer work includes training low-income communities in Uganda/Kenya in video/photography, and providing mentorship to children at London's Ministry of Stories, a creative writing centre. I'm also a mentor for CharityWorks, a graduate scheme for the charity sector.
In my current role, as editor at Pioneers Post (a publication covering social enterprise), I've also been mentoring three young journalists in Indonesia / South Africa to report on creative/social enterprise in their countries, as well as co-managing the overall programme (a pilot programme that recruited 14 young journalists from 6 countries).
I'd love to support a high-impact charity or social enterprise, particularly one that focuses on improving access to education/employment/creative experience for young and/or disadvantaged people. I feel very strongly about finding ways to give people a platform and the confidence they need to use and develop their creative voice.
I'd like to apply my experience in project management, creative/strategic support, media training/facilitation or writing/editing.
