Work history

About me

I am excited to find an opportunity to use my audit, finance and board level experience to assist an organisation in all matters relating its financial administration and consider any impact external factors may have on their key functions. I aim to provide objective analysis and act inclusively in the interest of the organisation. The high level of people focussed deliverables that the firms reach work with hope to provide through detailed and precise work is something I aspire to.

I am keen to use, improve and utilise my pre-existing skills; this role is a perfect platform for me to do this. Having worked for EY and Mazars I have gained significant experience in the finance and audit sectors with audit clients including Grant Thornton, BP, Shell, Total and Eni S.p.A. This has furnished me with a combination of technical knowledge and skills in finance and accounting which I have demonstrated through gaining the CFAB qualification with the ICAEW. This will enable me to provide strong verbal and numeric analytical skills to interpret and scrutinise reports of a complex and technical nature.

My time as Trustee of the Kings College London Students Union demonstrated a willingness to take collective responsibility for board decisions as we restructured the Union’s activities. Whist on the board I was assigned roles on the KCLSU Audit Risk and Compliance Committee and KCLSU Performance Committee.  As KCLSU's Board of Trustees, we were responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity (with a turnover of approximately £6m), developing the organisations aims, objectives and goals in accordance with its constitution, legal and regulatory guidelines.

In 2015 I was also appointed as treasurer of the Kings College London Alumni Association (KCLA), managing the finances of the organisation. This involves preparing annual financial statements and budgets applications for presentation to the executive and King’s College London. I oversee the day to day financial management of the organisation with the help of a finance assistant and present the financial statements annually at the KCLA’s AGM in the House of Lords. Joining the KCLA enhanced my leadership skills shaped by the ethos of the University enabling me to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with the ability to listen and engage effectively with the many stakeholders involved. My performance in the role led to a personal recommendation by the Vice President of Finance for the college which I have included in my application.

I have gained a wide range of transferable skills from working internationally (Toronto and Melbourne) and in a variety of environments; be it working in the audit sector, in the RAF reserves or university/students union sector. During all of which I have worked in small, high performing teams, providing effective communication, analytical and problem solving skills and making decisions within tight timescales which is critical in this field and is something I have a strong proven record of. I would like to bring this and my transferrable skills to a role.

In summary I have demonstrated I can plan, organise and lead showing the skills to join an organisation. My work constantly challenges me to find solutions to complex problems. I believe that as part of the board, I will be part of an organisation that will provide scrutiny and value to the stakeholders it represents.
