About me

My career and voluntary activities have focused on providing services that improve quality of life for disadvantaged communities and individuals in difficult circumstances. I am committed to social justice and equality of opportunity.

I have contributed to policy development at local and national level and worked with others to identify and address gaps in service provision and meet the needs of communities.

As a senior manager, I formed and strengthened partnerships with other statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure resources were optimised.

In leadership roles, I understood the importance of listening to team members and taking steps to ensure everyone was motivated to work effectively to deliver objectives.

A strategic thinker and problem solver, I am able to consider and debate different perspectives on an issue and believe teamwork is key to effective decision making.

My experiences in paid work and voluntary roles have informed my personal views, as well as my ability to appreciate other points of view.

As a lay member of a committee of experts, I was able to express my contribution with confidence, while respecting the viewpoints of professionals.

I am a doer as well as a thinker, willing to take on tasks that meet the needs of the organisation.

I have good listening skills and have supported and mentored many colleagues.

What am I looking for

I’d like to contribute my skills and experience to an organisation that provides opportunities for people to improve their life chances. This could be in housing, employment, confidence building or making a positive change.

As a board member or trustee, I could offer an alternative viewpoint or be a critical friend, as required.

I could assist with campaigns, writing policy or building partnerships.

Also willing to do frontline and 1-1 work, with appropriate training and support.

I am happy to work partly from home, though would like opportunities to meet others face to face.
